Like my s15 i just done a few mod and it can good around 300hp+ . So think about it (^_^)v i agree with chris. he speaks from experience. i think the stock T28BB turbo has a lot of potential. i had a match with his car before. mine stock too but red top T25 (non ball bearing) he was driving a black top with the T28BB and other head mods. he pulled away 3 cars effortlessly. Hey buddy Mark. Where got pulled away 3 car oh (-____-)""""" Anyway Newbie trust me and i very sure the s15 stock turbo can go more then 300hp++ since u planning to mod your car into 300hp++ and at the same time u can save $$ for modify other part for your car (^_^)v

A good and rather cheap modding choice for your ride newbie would be the SR20 conversion... I'd go with what has been pointed above by those well versed in the SR world.
Consider the pros... parts are abundant and relatively cheap. Power gains are quite easily gained even in stock form. Best of luck.

one of the weakness of the CA18 engine block is the oil gallies and the water channels. the CA18 block is dated way back in the 80's and it was not design as a power horse like the SR20DET it was used in most sedan cars back then. read more about the CA18DET and it's history here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_CA_engine

Re: what else do i need when installing turbo?
guys, when upgrading turbo, might as well upgrade injectors, fuel pump and fuel regulator right, if upgrading slightly bigger injector say 600cc, will an afc able to control? or wats the most cheapest route to control/tame the injector during idling? pls explain..

Depends on what turbo you're upgrading...if you fit a 600cc injectors, GT 2835 is the best bet and the Walbro 255 l/hr pumps together with a Rising rate fuel regulator (e.g. Sard, Tomei and so on) With 600cc injectors a SAFC Neo will be able cope with it, that is with proper tuning
